Our story

We are Basia, the sole maker behind Monti Pots, and Monti himself, a rescue dog who keeps me company in the studio.

I am a trained architect working in an architecture studio during the day and throwing pots on evenings and weekends. What started as a little hobby, quickly took over a huge part of my life. And so, shortly after joining a community pottery studio, I bought my own wheel and put it in my kitchen.

As the space became too little for my growing needs, I moved my pottery into a shared atelier in Berlin-Wedding, where I work now.

Our practice

In the world of mass production, I believe in owning less but better objects. Unique pottery made by hand stands in full opposition to reduplication and consumerism, it is an antidote to mass-produced goods. Handmade ceramics is all about building a long-lasting connection between the object and its user.

Ceramics is the most durable form of art and so in my practice I concentrate on quality and longevity. Every single piece is carefully crafted: formed by hand on the potters wheel, glazed, and fired by myself in my small studio in Berlin.

My architecture background has a significant impact on my pottery practice. In my ceramics, the form follows function. I am drawn to minimalist aesthetics, simple, elegant shapes, and neutral colors. My pottery serves both aesthetic and functional purposes. It's not only a unique design accessory, it is also meant for everyday use and becoming an integral part of your daily rituals.

*All my ceramic tableware is made of stoneware fired in high temperature, it is microwave and dishwasher safe.*
